What it requires

Defines the 10 Gb/s fiber physical layers — 10GBASE-SR for short-reach multimode (about 400 m on OM4) and 10GBASE-LR for single-mode — which are what an SFP+ transceiver implements. Published as an amendment and since folded into the consolidated IEEE 802.3 standard.
