What it requires

Two-wire RS-485 multi-drop protocol between access-control readers and controllers. Supervised (the controller detects a removed or cut reader) and supports AES-128 Secure Channel — the properties Wiegand lacks, since Wiegand is unsupervised, unencrypted and point-to-point.
